Research: Conclusion of Research

To conclude my research, i have found out the following things i need to do for my artist, music video and digipak in order to make it look good.

  • This has helped me to start to think about my promotional package for my music video and how I am going to create my brand identity.
  • This has also helped me understand how I can create synergy between my promotion package and other merchandise.
  • This has helped me to understand the link between genres of music video and their target audiences.
  • This has helped me to understand how the music video has developed over time especially with technology.
  • This has helped me to develop my understanding of how institutions change with society.
  • This helped me understand the history of an institution and how they play a large role.
  • This has helped me think more about which institution I will consider to promote my own music video.
  • learn't how to relate lyrics and visuals
  • received ideas of different shots I can use in my video
  • I liked the way close ups of the artists were used which allowed us to see all of the singers. shots I will consider using in my video are high angle shots, long shots, ELS, CU, MCU, Establishing shot, hand held cam, blur effect, frame positions and tracking.
  • I will find it difficult to access large urban environments and famous buildings, crane shots and flying cam.
  • I liked the idea of using pieces of paper with writing on them. I also liked how they got the community involved.
  • This has helped me in my planning as it has allowed me to think about different costuming and shot types. It has also made me think about the genre characteristics of my chosen genre and what my story line will be based off of.
  • By researching YouTube, it has helped me to consider the different options I have for marketing my music video and allowed me too know more about YouTube itself. I also got a better idea of the type and age of audience YouTube targets or pull in. It hasn't helped me because it only allowed me to think about two aspects of my music video and not a variety of things.
  • I liked how in this video the artists looked back on their old life and remembered where they came from.
  • In all 3 of these digipaks they have used bright but basic colours. This is what I need to use as it is a good representation of my genre.
  • They all use fun font styles however I don't like how Ariana Grande uses small font. Although it can be seen as buyers must pick it up and look, it won't capture there attention especially with an un-established artist.
  • I know how I could break conventions with my music video in terms of artist and concept
  • I need to create a star image
  • I don't like how the colours mix together. I think it looks messy and unorganized
  • I need to use bright colours in order to correspond with our chosen genre and to appeal to our target audience.
  • I need to use an image of my artist on the front of the digipak in order to advertise my artist
  • I don't like the way the text on the back of the album is set out. There is too much happening.
  • I like how the the text on the back of the CD is centred and bold. It instantly grabbed my attention.
  • The colours work well and the Gold shows the importance of the artist.
  • I need to include institutional detail on the Digipak and logo.
  • I need a medium close up of my artist to grab the attention of my audience and this promotes my artist as well.
  • I don't like how it is quite plain looking. There is a basic image on the front and relates to a vintage style.
  • I like how the colour scheme is bright and tranquil. This relates the the theme of my artist.
  • I will not be using an idea like this for my digipak
  • I like how the colours stand out and appeal to a similar age of the audience I am trying to reach
  • I like how the writing isn't fancy so, especially to 10 year olds, this is easy to read.
  • he colours resemble a certain gender and also reflect the artists personality
  • each image or style used reflects the theme well and I have found out that synergy and artist representation is a key part of the digipaks
  • I need to think about different ways to promote my artist and song.
  • I realised that there is also a way to promote the song and not just this artist. If people know the name of the song they will go onto YouTube to listen to it and see the official video.
  • I like how everything is laid out neatly and in columns
  • I have found in the and other pop digipaks that handwritten fonts are used. I like this as i think it will appeal to our audience.
  • I need to use different fonts as it will help me emphasise certain parts of my digipak
  • need to use a colour scheme that will be unique to my artist and create their own house style.
  • I love how she has used musical terminology to represent her as an artist, However this is something I don't think would be possible as our song is called "Back Around"
  • I like how the album name is bigger than the artist name. This breaks conventions and I would like to do this in our digipak
  • The album is very feminine and shows class, this tells me I need to pick colour schemes very carefully to go with the theme of our video.
  • I don't like how the CD is quite busy
  • I like the synergy used between the CD and the front cover. This is something we could do in our digipak
  • I like how the text is bold, stands out and is centre aligned.
  • There is a lot of institutional detail which I don't think we need on our digipak
  • Our digipak will not need parental guidance.
  • I like the colour scheme of this as I find it very calming
  • I don't like the cartoon picture, I think we should use a normal picture for our cover
  • I need the make the artists name as big a the song title as my artist isn't already established
  • I need to pick colours that will stand out for my colour scheme so that things don't blend in or are not easily seen
  • I defiantly need a spine as it is conventional and include detail that doesn't necessarily need to be on the back of my digipak like the institutional detail.
  • I can subtly include brand identity in the music video as well as the digipak
  • understand that as well as promoting concept there isn't enough performance base in this, which I need in mine.
  • our artist doesn't have the star status to be able to do shots of concerts backstage
  • This is a video that breaks a lot of conventions. It uses one location, one set of costumes and one similar lighting.
  • There aren't that many types of camera shots including close ups
  • the video doesn't promote the artist well as there are no shots of his face clearly
  • These comments have given me so loads of ideas for the music video
  • They have also helped me finalise some shots we had been debating whether to use.
  • The TA really likes the use of a red shirt as it stands out and contrasts against the green background.
  • Locations were also liked in these photos. We will need to use some of these locations in the mucis video as our TA really liked them.

  • The low angle shot comments will help me throughout the video as I now understand that this specific angle of shot will work very well towards the end of the video.
  • There are so many meanings behind our video that one member of our audience will interpret our video differently to another. This means that there is no right or wrong answer.
  • We need to discuss different angles we could take our music video in concept
  • We need to pick out brighter costumes for the end of the music video to show peace and love.
